This July, Community Coalition is transforming Backyard Thursdays into THE PEOPLE’S COOKOUT—a community celebration of culture, creativity, history, and the future we are building together.
As part of the opening of WE THE PEOPLE--Community Coalition and Sankofa.org’s powerful new art exhibition featuring 30 artists reimagining America through the experiences, resilience, and dreams of Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and working-class communities--we invite you to gather with neighbors, artists, organizers, and families for an evening rooted in joy, community, and collective imagination.
Why a PEOPLE’s Cookout?
For generations, cookouts have been more than a meal. They are places where stories are shared, traditions are passed down, relationships are built, and communities come together to celebrate who we are.
